Postby Ian on Mon Nov 15, 2004 12:38 pm

Plextor announced the drive this morning. It will ship in December for $159

It's not listed on their website (yet), but info can be found here:

I wonder if the PX-716SA will arrive before, or even at the same time as the PX-716a because of all their DOA drives?

I bought a PX716a at Pest Buy and returned it this weekend for a Pioneer A08. The Plextor wouldn't recognize a single disc. TLA # was 000. Very poor on the part of Plextor.

Good question. I have a feeling the 716A and 716SA will be showing up at the same time.

After these hit the market, looks like Ian will have to sneak into Hox's room and take a new photo.

Plextor has pushed back their release of the 716A to January 10,2005 to online stores like Mwave.com. LOL! Newegg doesn't even have them on their website yet. I'm assuming the drive has a hardware problem which is why they've been delayed. But how odd it is that only BEST BUY & the USA Plextor is selling the drive. Are they using USA as the guinea pig to test out the drive? Who knows eh??????????

It's kinda interesting. I have yet to get any word out of Plextor USA on the problems people are seeing. Usually they're very responsive to questions/concerns.

I heard, LOL. As far as I'm concerned, the PX-716 stands as a crappy drive, because everything I've seen shows that, but I'm waiting until they fix up their shit.
