I'm waiting to see if a) the game gets good reviews and b) Vivendi lets Valve activate the game on time.

Even if its half as good as the original Half Life.. it'll probably be better than most of the games out there.

That is the reason I'm not buying it. It will not stem piracy, all it will do is provide massive hinderance to people who don't want/can't to connect their machines to the net. Very, very, bad/stupid idea Valve...

I figured it'd take about 48-72 hours before someone cracked it. This is one of those games that I don't think I'd buy until having tried it. It has just been in development too long, and there's a lot of hype to live up to. I loved the original Half Life; I'd say this one has to be 2/3 as good as the original for me to play it. If it is, it will still beat Doom 3, which I have enjoyed playing, but is really only groundbreaking in terms of graphics.

Seeing how the newest top of the line cards are roughly 2x faster than the previous generations' top of the line (Radeon 9800 XT and the Geforce FX 5950 Ultra), it would be a safe bet. I got me a Geforce 6800 GT 256mb yesterday. Good Lord Doom III and Far Cry look and play fantastic...

My P3 1ghz with 768mb of PC133 ram just won't cut it. Nor, will my 32mb GeForce 2 GTS card.

Being there will not be any money for a computer upgrade for another 2 or 3 years, there's no way I'll be buying this or any other game for a while.
