benq dw1620pro - retail version available December/January

Postby ramlin on Tue Nov 16, 2004 5:27 am

For those of you who want to buy the benq dw1620pro retail version (as opposed to buying the benq dw1620 and converting it into the pro version via the new B7P9 firmware), I have just received an e-mail from Benq technical support (see below) which states that the retail version of the dw1620pro will be on sale from December 2004/January 2005. As you may recall, the retail version will be identical to the current retail version of the dw1620 except that it will have Nero 6.6 as part of its bundled software and will have the B7P9 firmware pre-installed.

Thank you very much for your reply. As I want to buy the retail version
of
the Benq dw1620pro which has Nero 6.6 as part of its software bundle -
when
will that version be on sale.
Many thanks again.

what is the point of this drive really....you just get the extra software? Or is that it for the 1620 in terms of firmware

Well, it is replacing the DW1620, so other then the software, it's the exact same drive. But the DW1620 won't be available for much longer either.

hey, will the 1620 then be "allowed" then to update the firmware when the pro version updates or was the last update for the 1620 the "last" one we get for free
