Italian job is that firmware you linked to the same as TDB's hacked MadDog firmware?

I tried TDB's firmware and still couldn't get my RICHOJPN R01 to write above 6x. The bit setting utility kept freezing up as well. I tried to flash the firmware with the one you inked to, but I kept getting an error message. What flasher should I use. I tried using TDB's DOS NEC flasher.

TDB 2.F8 = Quikee 2F8RPC1

Download and open firmware whith the Quikee tool named "necdump" 1.0 RC1 (on the same page) to see if they are well downloaded.

Flash then with http://binflash.cdfreaks.com (Win32 Gui)

Yeah I eventually figured it out, thanks for the reply.

I ended up going with Herrie's 2500 beta 5 firmware as it overspeeds my 4x RiDATA to 8x where the 2.F8 was 6x. Bit setting is a none issue for me as well.

flash back

Hey Italian Job! If for some strange reason I deside to go back to an official 2.17/2.?? NEC FW, would I just dump the old FW in bin flash and reinstall 2.16 or could I go straight to 2.17 in bin flash?

Hi Italianjob,
Thanks for your help in the past. Currently i am using firmware 2.f7 (mad dog f/w) in my OEM nec 2510. works great and book type setting is able etc... What is the advantage of upgrading to 2.f8 mad dog firmware from 2.f7? someone said its good for the old 2100 and 2500 models not for original 2510. please let me know . whats your advise?

2.F8 supports more DL discs : RitekD01, Philips, etc. and has up to date writting strategies (=NEC 2510 2.17 with SL bitsetting).
I'm happy with 2.F8.

Yes you can use a Windows version :
One of the TDB 2.F8 use a Windows GUI, very simple to flash.
Good reputation ? Yes, even if they are "dangerous" brothers

(If you want discs overspeed, Quikee is creating a beta 2.F8 firmware with some media overspeed. See the dedicated thread at cdfreaks.)
