Pioneer 108 and bitsetting

Hello im going to buy pioneer 108. As i have searched a little in the forum pioneer didnt allow bitsetting. Is there now a way (like hacked firmware) to have the option of bitsetting at the pioneer 108?

The standard DVR-108 model from Pioneer only changes the booktype of DVD+R DL discs to DVD-ROM by default. An OEM company, PioData, sells a version of the DVR-108 that always changes the booktype of both DVD+R SL and DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM. It is possible to put the PioData firmware onto a Pioneer DVR-108 to gain the DVD+R SL bitsetting ability of the OEM drive.

My advice would be to simply use DVD-R media with this Pioneer drive and not DVD+R media at all.

Also, do not try to flash a retail A08 with the Piodata firmware. The hardware is different.

If i cant flash a retail DVR-A08XLA can i flash the bulk pioneer DVR-108 with the firmware of PIOdata? or i have to buy the DVR-108DX (Piodata's recorder) in order to change the booktype of both DVD+R SL and DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM?

You can use PioData firmware on an A08XL, but you will lose XL features. This does not mean that you can use XL firmware on a non-XL drive though, there is something that prevents this. I do NOT recommend doing this, and DVRFlash 2.0 should prevent you from doing this anyways.

You can flash the bulk DVR-108 with PioData firmware (normal and kernel parts are both required).
