Spanning Disks?

Postby ergobob on Sun Dec 12, 2004 11:29 pm

Hello,

I just updated to Nero Express 6.6.03.

I want to backup all of My Documents which spans several CDROM's. Is there a way to do that?

I don't see "Back It Up" as an option and data copy will not permit spanning.

How can I do this?

Thanks a lot,

Bob

Have a look at Burn To The Brim..
http://bttb.sourceforge.net/
I have never personally used it but have heard good things about it. I think it works for CD and DVD.

Yes, I have been looking at Burn To The Brim. I find it odd that an application like Nero would not permit spanning CDROM's. I also wonder why I don't see the Backup option in Nero 6?

Guess I will have to try Burn To The Brim but wish I understood the Nero problem.

Did your Nero 6 software come bundled with your recorder? You may have an OEM bundle that did not contain this feature. And you would need to purchase an upgarde for $49.99 US Dollars to upgrade to the Full Retail version.

But Nero BackItUP does support spanning of CD, DVD-/+R/RW, and DVD-RAM media.

Yup, I think you are right. I bought an OEM version for $5. Guess you get what you pay for :)

Thanks for catching that.

Ironically, I'd like to see the option "do not span files across media" ... so it may be that spanning is enabled, there's no other option, and therefore not obvious.

The reason I'd like to disable it is for backing up to DVD ... i.e., I want to simply copy the file structure over, and I want absolutely all files to be intact, without being split ... thus allowing for restoration via simply copying.

cheerios & happy holidays :)
