NuTech DVDRW DDW-081 problems

Postby Laise on Sun Dec 26, 2004 5:19 am

Hey,

I'm a little new to the whole DVD R thing. I'm having a problem with the drive because when I attempt to burn a DVD (using nero) it tells me that there is no DVD-R in the drive, when there is. I upgraded firmware to NuTech DVDRW DDW-082 B375, and the problem still continues. When I try with a CD-R (from the same brand of DVD-Rs) it works find and recognizes the disc. It reads commercial DVDs but won't read the DVDrs.

Does this mean it isn't compatible with the DVDRs? Like I said I'm new to this so please help if you can :)

Okay, I did all that.

It now shows as two different DVD drives, when there is only one drive. The one drive as a burner and other as just a DVD drive. The DVD drive it shows reads the disc as blank, but the DVD burner doesn't even acknowledge it as being anything in the drive.

Does this mean my drive is one of the 40% that don't work, or do I just need to change a few settings so the computer doesn't think there are two different drives.

Thanks,
Laise

Laise,

Check if your IDE Cable is atleast 80 pins, 45cm ATA66 prererably 100+.
DMA needs to be ON for both channels.
Check that your Bios and Motherboard drivers are updated with the latest information.

New motherboard came in tonight, think I'll just stick with DVD+Rs to avoid that again >_<
