Do I have to set anything? Trying to backup my 24 season 3 dvds so that I can lend them to my bro without worrying about the originals getting scratched :)

Try DVD Dycrypter

Postby steelly on Wed Dec 22, 2004 2:28 pm

I use DVD Dycrypter to rip the files (makes them region free), and then open the file with DVD Shrink to anyazle and encode. Then burn that file, to back-up your original DVD. I too make back-ups because of kids and irresposnible adults. Also, the Region code is set by the factory I believe; all my drives came set-up that way.

Most DVD drives I've own are set to the region of the first DVD video disc you put in them. So setting it to USA (Region 1) is ok. If you use a hacked firmware that disables region coding of the drive than Windows takes over the responsibility of setting and recording the region.

Yeah most rippers and players will only ask you once....just hit OK.
After ripping the DVD's will be region-free.
