I think this is online only. Cyberhome DX162D-A for $40.99 after rebate

$80.99 - $40 mail in rebate = $40.99

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... pe=product

Update:

It's now back to $89.99 and sold out on the web site.

Thank you. I'm so use to them selling pc drives under the Cyberdrive name, that I thought it was still Cyberdrive. Cyberhome usually sales electronics.

They have been talking about it here

I bought a couple of Cyberhome DVD players for $40 at the drugstore. They are totally adequate. Every bit as good as the $90 name brand player that I had bought earlier.

That's really cool your Cyberhome player works really good. What model is it, and do they play dvd-r and dvd+r media?

Well, I know that it reads CD+R and CD+RW and without bitsetting because my NEC ND-3500 doesn't have the hacked firmware. Check on the model number when I get home tonight. Also, has a much different shape than most, a little taller and much narrower.

OK, here is the rest on the Cyberhome Mini DVD Player, Model CH-DVD 300:
Height: 1 3/4 in, Width: 9 in, Depth: 9 in

As compared to a more typical size Phillips player that I had previously bought:
Height: 2 1/4 in, Width: 17 in, Depth: 12 in

Other:
Progressive Scan Video with 3:2 pulldown
Playable discs: DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, Audio CD, SVCD, VCD, CD-R & CD-RW discs
Playable Formats: DVD-Video, SVCD, VCD, JPG & MP3
TV Systems Supported: MULTI, NTSC and PAL
Plays All Regions

I've bought mine at Long's Drugs and Fry's. Best Buy and others may carry them. Other Terms and Conditions may apply. Remove all wrappings before plugging into power source. Read instructions before using. Call 1-888-302-2727 (probably in Bangalore) for recorded music. Must be returned in original packaging with all accessories. Other Terms and Conditions still apply. Manufacturer, distributor and retailer are not responsible for much, if any. Other Terms and Conditions always apply. Hoxlund bought his for $15 after employee discounts, secret coupon codes and Mail-in rebates and will put his on E-Bay next week. If Wiz buys one by e-tail it will get to him via Fedex in time for spring break. Monte should get one for Jenn as a Valetine's gift instead of the Tifany diamond. :D

Thank you for letting my know the model number.

I didn't quite understand the last part of your message, but I took it that you were probably joking. I hope I was right :)

I almost bought a Cyberhome player for cheap ($40) over at Best Buy, because it had all the features I wanted, was nice and small, and I really didn't need that much.

Then I picked it up to look at the back, and almost burned my hands on its outer case; I've never felt an electronic device that warm before (at least not one that shouldn't have been). This gave me enough pause to go home and check out the model. I read so many poor online reviews about how it quit working anywhere from one month to one year after purchase that I went out and spent double on a Sony that I'm really happy with. I'm sure if you get a good one you're fine, but I'd be a little leery of their quality control.
