Slow PX-716A DVD burner

Postby Nocebo on Sat Jan 22, 2005 6:18 am

Hi everybody!!!

I'm new to this burning stuff and I just bought a Plextor PX-716A TLA nr. 0203 and upgraded it to firmware 1.04, so I got this question:
Is it realy true that it takes over 30 minutes to burn a DVD using Nero burning ROM V 6.3.1.17????

It says that it burns 12 speed, and I tested the hard drives speed to 31.
The media i'm using is VERBATIM DVD+R 8 speed. When I'm burning it's like the buffer gets filled and then the drive burns whats in it - then the drive stops burning and the buffer fills again and on and on.....
Shouldn't it be able to burn al the time and not stop every 3 seconds???

Is there anything I'm doing wrong???

You're using good media- it should only take 6-8 minutes (8-12x).

Make sure that DMA is enabled for your drive and data source (hard drive or reader). See the appropriate entry for your OS in the FAQ forum

Since I don't own a Plextor drive, you'll have to wait for someone else to answer that. :-?
