Question about disabling WIndows burn engine

I just followed the XP Home instructions and found that my cd/dvd drive was already unchecked. I just got this laptop and it is brand new. I didn't uncheck it. However, I have had to do some fixes because of problems with nero and my attempts to get it to work, especially using INCD4.

My question: If it is unchecked, does this prevent dragging and dropping in windows explorer? If so, isn't INCD4 designed to make dragging and dropping possible? Why would I want to disable it, if dragging and dropping are what I am trying to accomplish via making my dvd's rewritable using windows explorer?

Windows' burn engine and InCD both allow you to drag and drop your data to disc. The thing you need to keep in mind is that Windows isn't' actually packet writing. It simply caches the data and waits for you to tell it to write it to disc. InCD uses the UDF disc format and writes the data to disc immediately.

On my computers I have it disabled and use InCD or DLA. I think some packet writing software actually requires you to disable it.
