Im using SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM AVI to VCD DVD MPEG Converter Pro, then SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM MPEG to DVD Burner.
It took me almost 11 hours to convert a 2h,16m movie, thats the only the only negative I think.
The quality is the same, you can add subtitle, choose Pal or NTSC.

I'm using a program called DVDsanta. It will convert all kinds of files into a DVD format. Google to find the program and see if it's what you want.

thanks for the prompt replies.

I have tried "VSO DivxToDVD" - easy to use, But the output looks the same low quality as the DivX input, and it does NOT maintain the proper aspect ratio(ie 16:9)

* Q1) Is "SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM AVI to VCD DVD MPEG Converter Pro" OR "DVDsanta" any Better ?

* Q2) Is there one that allows me to set the output to a higher quality than the one output by "VSO DivxToDVD" ?

BTW: I can NOT try "Ahead Nerovision v3" because I can NOT install shitty DirectX 9 on my Windows 2000 Box(install fails!) - so any other recommendations besides that one would be great ;)

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Ulead VideoStudio or TMPGEnc DVD Author are good.
Go here for guides: www.videohelp.com

Look here for the DirectX 9 solution:

I havent ried DVDsanta so i dont know anything about it.

In SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM you can make your own output size, but you cannot make it to better quality like the one you have from the beggining.

True, no matter what software you use, you can never make the output better than the original input. There will always be some depreciation.

you are right about aspect ratio problems with divxtodvd, a lot of fixes has been made in the product in the last version. now you can even encode several files into a single dvd.

you can grab the latest version from www.vso-software.fr

Sorry people I haven't replied sooner to my own post.

After thourougly testing 14 Different Conversion programs for 'Avi/Divx to DVD'
here are my results:

After downloading a DivX/Avi(as well as Xvid, Mpeg4, Mov,WMV) from the Net(eg: Torrent)

(1) DivxToDVD (Encodes/Merges & Authors in 1 Step (Saves HD Space & Time)

The BEST 'All-in-One' Software that offers the BEST Quality if you want
to record to (DVD-RW/Watch/then Erase/then Record Another)

http://www.vso-software.fr/divxtodvd/divxtodvd2.htm

If you CAN spend more than 'Double' the time for a 'slight' increase in quality,
AND Need MUCH Greater Control to Edit chapters/scenes/encoding attributes/Fit to DVD Controls etc

(2) TMPGEnc v3 XPress (Encodes/Resizes) THEN use TMPGEnc DVD Author (Authors)

The BEST 'Encoder then Author' Software that offers the BEST Quality if you want
to Record Movies to DVD that you want to KEEP or NEED EXPERT MANUAL CONTROLS

http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/te3xp.html
http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html

Then after Authoring, just burn with Nero Burning ROM v6

Hope this helps other newbies like me ;)
