Dual layer media question.

Postby aristottle on Sat Feb 12, 2005 1:01 pm

I am considering buying a dual layer burner and have a few questions:

1) Will a Dual Layer burner burn single layer media as Dual Layer ( I assume not, but just wanted to make sure.)

2)What is the compatibility of a Dual Layer burned DVD playing a movie on a Desktop DVD Player? Will most DVD Players read a Dual layer DVD burned with over 8 gigs of info?

3) Should I jump on board the Dual Layer train now? or am I better off to continue with my sinlge layer burner ( I have a couple of hundred blank DVDs in stock).

Thanks for the suggestions guys.....

no

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

most people with dual layer burners burn mostly single layer discs. All dvd players can read original dual layer discs, but not all can read DVDR DL media.

I would get a dual layer burner just because that's all that's out there right now and eventually the media will come down in price.
