Should I upgrade my 8X burner or wait?

Postby aristottle on Thu Feb 24, 2005 8:36 pm

I have a nutech DDW-082 Dual format burner. With no complaints.

Should I jump on the dual layer band wagon and buy a new burner now or wait till the media comes down in price and the DL burning speeds increase in third generation burners?

What do you guys think?

I've got a nu-tech 082 (Orginally an 81) and I'm in the same situation as you. I think I am going to hold off on upgrading till DL media comes way down in price. There isn't much of a time difference between 8x and 16x burning currently.

I'm constantly tempted to upgrade my 8x burner, but then I see quality scans posted for the variety of 16x burners and I say to myself "my drive is as good, or even better............." and sooo many of them have firmware problems or QC problems. There would have to be a real leap somewhere, like when DL burners came out.
