I haven't been following Lite-On lately, so this is just a guess, but is it possible it supports bit-setting for DVD+R and DVD+RW but not DVD+R DL? Such things have been heard of before. Have you tried it with plain old DVD+R?

Hello!

A question for bitsetting: First burn DVD and then change the booktype or so I need to set the booktype on a blank DVD+R?

Thanks

Here's the odd thing about the 1653S

With DVD+R discs you need to set it before you burn the discs.

With DVD+RW discs, you can set it before or after you burn the disc.

As far as I know, Lite-On drives are the only ones that let you change the book type of +RW discs after you burn them.

Thanks, Ian :)

Question: When I give a friend with a Liteon some DVD+R and he sets the booktype DVD-Rom, can my LG-burner write on that media?

The booktype isn't actually changed until the disc is burned. However the software has to be told beforehand to do this, which is why DVD+R has to have booktype set prior to burning.
