Micro Advantage 16X DVD+/-RW

DVD-R/W, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM

I think that, tig, you are missing the point. Which is: it's a hobby, part of the game. Taking 'em back to the store, selling 'em on Ebay, having more than will fit in your machine (look at the sigs) is like collecting and trading baseball cards and model train stuff.

Now, let's look at the flawed analogy of returning an automobile to the store. It's against the law! The minute you drive it across the sideway and off the dealer's property, it's yours and forever. Now if the law were otherwise that would compel dealers to accept returns for full cash refund within 30 days, what percentage do you think would be returned?

10-4, good buddy, over and out.

CowboySlim, I understand your point. My example of car purchase is not for "return for refund" comparison. My point is that I am happy with my Isuzu because I am happy with what I paid and what I got. Of course the ride quality is not as good as Lexus’ and features are not comparable. But for the money – it is much better than Lexus. I have the money for Lexus, but I do not want to buy one because I need a safe SUV with seatbelts and airbags for everyday driving and towing my boat at week-ends. I do not need sunroof, spoiler and other crap just for looks and compliments. This is my opinion, and you may not agree.

10-4, sig, roger that.

I got'um SUV, too, but with all the trimmings. I wanted most of the trimmings but not the sunroof which I don't use. However, had to get in package with the stuff I did want.

Now, that being typed, I'll be taking it to the Arizona Strip the weekend prior to Memorial Day W/E and you are welcome. Shall we meet at the Bloomington Wal*Mart parking lot at noon on that Saturday or at the Shell station the other side of the I15?

Hmmmmmmmmmm.............................

I getting some good burns off my M/A Aopen now. I'm also getting DVDs that play in both my CyberHome players (different S/Ws) by using the Maxell DVD-Rs, 8X (the Fuji (TYs) CD+Rs, 8X would only play in one of them).

So the M/A is faster that the NEC ND-3500 but not is fast as the Plex 716A?

This is to vertify that etp is right that this drive is fast reader of D/L disk, not just D/L but for S/L is also very fast. I have run two "Transfer Rate (Ripping) " tests on both DVD-Video of S/L and D/L both pressed (protected) disks. Notice both S/L and D/L are not full capacitated (loaded) disk otherwise results would have been even more promisising.

As you guys can see from my graphical presentation, I have had the drive flashed with genuine AOPEN r.108 f/w which the drive string now identified as "AOPEN DUW1608/ARR. If I am not wrong the drive is function better now with this r.108 f/w and again I like to emphasis as etp has said it before and tig2002 stated this drive is really fast reader (ripper) way better than Lite-ON 1633S and NEC 3500 as I have experienced with both of those drive.

I have performed test on the drive with genuine AOPEN f/wr.108 with drive string as AOPEN using TDK DVD+R (4X) MID RICOHJPNR01, the drive as we know is kind of slow with respect to other drives in burning process (in this case took + 16 minutes to burn 4X disk) but the quality of burnt disk to my experience is very good. Notice the same 4X disk can be burned by my NEC 3500 with mod f/w at speed of 12X.

The D/L DVD Video (protected) was ripped (Transfer Rate) both with NEC 3500 with Riplock removed modded f/w (fig #1) and with AOPEN 1608 with stock (Original AOPEN r.108) f/w (fig # 2). We can see clearly that AOPEN 1608 drive even with stock f/w is way faster than NEC 3500 with RipLock Removed modded f/w.

If AOPEN come up with new revision of f/w for this drive to improve the burning speed then we could claim this drive stands tall among other brands to rocken with. May be others do the modding of f/w for this to increase not just the burning rate but also the ripping.

Etp; that is a good idea to put the issue on the table at the different forum, I might ask Quikee-2 and Dee-27 the modifiers of NEC f/w if they could take look on this issue.

I'm only guessing at this, but when it is CLV, perhaps you can't do more. Does it make sense that comparing a CAV and a CLV drive, both with the same starting speed, say 4x, and the same ending speed, like 12x, that the CAV will always have the faster average?

10-4?

Over and out.

That is not true, as CD-Freaks in thier evaluation of this drive on 1/31/05 are pointing out that :

"The next point is the 16x DVD+R CAV writing technique that leads to faster burns when compared with 16x Z-CLV."
