Problem Converting .rmvb to .avi Need Help with this one ??

Postby BMR on Fri Apr 08, 2005 9:30 am

I have recently obtained about 20 .rmvb files that I really would like to convert to .avi so I can watch them on my Philips DVP642.

I have been using WinAvi to do the conversion and in almost every case the audio is out of sync in the final conversion. I have tried conversion to other .avi forms ( ie. DIVX , XVID, 3IVX ) and still same problem.

After several hours of research and seeing this topic posted often I am no closer to a solution.

Any definitive "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT" help would be much appreciated.

Have you given EO Video a try? They have a free trial available.

I've used it on real media video files and converted to .AVI before. (.rm extension) My use of it was limited, but it was able to accomplish the task.

Sucess !!

The EO video program was very slow in the conversion. Takes about 1 hour to convert a 40 min .rmvb to .avi but the conversion was not bad. The video quality was not as good as the .rmvb and the sound was still a bit off but not near as bad as the WinAVI conversions. Thanks Jim
