Started seeing "off-colors" during DVD video FIXED

Today, I began to see off-colors when I play any movie DVD. I tried a movie DVD that was perfect in the same drive earlier. I also tried the DVDs in my entertainment center DVD player, and they play fine. The problem is thus isolated to my pc.

The video playback is more blurry/bleeding and worst of all, the colors are all wrong! I have a suspicion that I caused the problem last night, when I installed some new software. (Graphics card: Albatron FX5700 with 256MB)

I installed:
1. The demo of Battlefield2
2. DirectX 9.0c (not sure if I had 9.0b or 9.0c installed before that)
3. Just-released Nvidia Geforce drivers: v77.72

My opinion is that it was the Nvidia Geforce drivers. I am going to try to revert to the previous version.

Don't use Nvidia Graphics driver v77.72!

I uninstalled v77.72 and re-installed my previous version, v71.89. DVD playback is normal again!

My conclusion: don't use Nvidia's graphics drivers for Windows 2000/XP v77.72 unless you have a new Geforce 7800 or you have a graphics glitch believed to be caused by the older version.

Graphic drivers can be a major pain sometimes, since most people don't expect them to CAUSE problems, so much as fix them.
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

I want to check if anyone else (1) has an Nvidia graphics card and (2) recently updated to the latest Nvidia Windows 2000/XP driver? Did you experience any DVD playback anomaly?

I have a Geforce FX 5700 wtih 256MB (made by Albatron). Yep, it's a little bit behind the graphics card curve.

Yes this happened to me too. The latest nvidia driver mucked up not only dvd movies but everything else as well like avi files & standard mpg's. Im using 77:30's now which come bundled with the battlefield demo. They work fine

Fixed!

v77.72 It seems fixed now!!

I used a solution found on Nvidia's forum submitted by another user. It is an easy fix.
