Yea, I was reading it last night at 2 in the morning. Gave me a laugh to see them use bar graphs to compare total PI values (total?!). And the comment about a burn having 2.6 million more PI errors than before. *chuckle* At least they did include the scans in a zip, so that was better than before. But I guess that's to be expected from people who are used to benchmarking linear things like fps and the such.

oh man..... I really thought I'd already seen the stupidest possible ways of testing media... but this is on a whole new level. These guys weren't just thinking "outside the box" they had to burn the original box, and create a whole NEW cornerless thing they would then CALL a box, so that they could think outside of that as well!

Ok, maybe that was a little long winded.... but MAN, that sucks!

I didn't think it was all that bad.

Now I'm even more glad I've waited for the 1640, it seems to be the superior drive.

Boost Mobile stole my minutes, then would rather loose me as a customer than give back my minutes (thieves).

Well.. I'm glad they're focusing more on writing quality. However, they need to understand what they're actually testing and how to portray it better.

Maybe I missed them, but did they do any CD or DVD read tests?

LMAO!!
Just read this "roundup" myself...

There were quite a few strange results and interpretations in their article.
For instance, why couldn't their NEC ND-3540A burn RITEKR04? no idea :o

Yeah... and why can their DW1640 burn Verbatim 2.4x DVD+RDL media that well with THAT firmware?

And how come they didn't factor in the POF errors from the DW1640's burn on the DVD-RDL into their quality report?
