I know a number of you have been waiting for LG's next drive. According to AV Watch, Buffalo (Japanese company) has started shipping a drive based on the GSA-4167B:

More info on Buffalo's website:

DVD+RW: 8x
DVD+R DL: 6x
DVD-RW: 6x
DVD-R DL: 4x
DVD-RAM: 5x
CD-R: 48x
CD-RW: 32x

Read Speeds:
DVD-ROM (single): 16x
DVD-ROM (dual): 8x
DVD±R: 10x

Buffalo also includes a Serial ATA adapter with the internal model. Kinda nice.. I wish US manufacturers would do that.

Now the big question is when will LG ship their OEM and retail drives?

I just hope that this one doesn't perform that rough with the first firmware as the last drive did.

I've come to expect problems from all initial firmware releases. I just want companies to respond to them quickly.
