Looking for the smilie that shows IP

Postby Scour on Tue Aug 02, 2005 5:38 am

Hello!

I´m not sure whether I see it here or in an other forum. It´s a smilie with a signpost taht shows the Ip of the user, the browser and the ISP.

Anyone knows where to get it?

I seem to remember that there was something bad about that thing that caused some people to stop using it? Something about the tracking info or something? Maybe I'm wrong.

There seems to be a political message involved that varies (in details but not general direction) each time it's accessed (hit refresh a couple of times).

ClayBuster uses this widget in his sig, so I thought he had it custom made, because it is his line.

I wouldn't use it though.

It might have just been stuff like this:

Personally, I don't like my IP being broadcast even just to the people sitting behind me... :-?

welcome, scour.

you can customize it and create such a sig with your own choice of what info it displays, and not to contain your IP address or whatever.

as far as privacy issues, it only goes as far as not wanting someone to see your info on your screen.
the info that sig shows is info contained in any communication between your browser and the server. nothing private about this info.
