LG GSA-2166B USB 2.0 Troubles?

Postby Ian on Wed Sep 07, 2005 7:56 pm

I know this is a very new drive but I figured there might be a few people that have it already and could verify this problem.

Like most external 16x DVD writers, its having a hard time writing at 16x. As you can see, it plateaus at about 14x and then drops off.

This is with an Intel chipset. I have not tried it on my other test system yet.

I guess the NEC chipset Plextor uses in its external drives is just very good as the 716A has no problems reaching 16x when using the USB 2.0 connection (depending on the USB 2.0 chipest of the motherboard or add-in card of course).

No problem hitting almost 16x over my side, check out this thread. btw, this enclosure uses the Prolific 2507 bridge chipset and you have got to check out the burner model bundled inside.
