IDE master or slave for burner

Postby disk2 on Fri Sep 09, 2005 3:23 pm

I recently have the pc shop instalated a Plextor PX-716a and now i found out thru Plextools Professional that my PX has been instalated as slave unit and the cd rom as the master.

Is this correct?
If this is wrong what are the improvements when changed.

My system is XP sp2 and i have 2 seperate hdd with a raid.

Can somebody help.
Do not explain using to difficult words as i'm not that technical.

usually it doesn't matter.
if both your drives are functioning properly, i would suggest you just leave things as they are now.

in principle it shouldn't matter if a drive is master or slave, but sometimes there's weird problems, a drive doesn't like to be a slave for instance, or with a particular other drive.

but if you had those problems you'd probably know about it by now.
most likely everything is fine.
enjoy your new drive :)

I had ca. 30 burners in the last years, almost all worked fine as slaves. Only a Mitsumi had problems with this config.
