Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 16x

Postby assalychris on Sat Oct 08, 2005 4:04 am

Is Verbatim DataLifePlus photo printable DVD+R 16x a good medium?
I have attached the Kprobe results snap; I don't know how to interpret them; can anyone explain?
Thank you
note: those are the new test results at 4x

Good media, bad result there. Tip : Use 4X scanning speed instead of MAX in Kprobe and post the scan obtained thusly.

Doesn't look good to me.
it's over 600 Pi-8 while you want it to be less as 280.

Now befor blameing the media to be bad. I did notice the TEAC drive.
Knoweing TEAC and Lite On have some quite bad 16x strategies with some firmwares. It is very good possible that the bad write strategy at 16x cause this bad results.

Please do take the time to rescan your first disc @4x. The error rates reported depend critically on the scanning speed (the "errors" are not on the disc, but depend on the system reading the disc as well).

In most forums, it's customary to perform these scans at 4x CLV so that results may be compared. The limits RJW refers to are even for scans @1x on calibrated drives.

It would also be useful to do a tranfer rate test with Nero CD/DVD Speed. In contrast to error scanning, the data is actually read during this test and the drive slows down if necessary to do so.

And yes, 8x would probably be better with this media (which is good, BTW). Your TEAC is an OEM LiteOn SOHW-1633S. I have a LiteOn 1213S crossflashed to 1653S and have never had decent results for burns faster than 8x.
