Taking in account all the scans published by alexnoe here:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=152852

the only good condtitions to burn these new Verbatim 8x "MKM-003" are:
Nec 4550 fimrware 1.06 (or 1.07) @ 8x mode Z-CLV
Plextor PX-716 with firmware 1.09 @ 6x mode Z-CLV

I am looking forward for what:
- the Plextor PX-755 with it's new firmware 1.02 is doing @ 4x mode CLV
- and also the BenQ's 1640 and 1655 are doing with their latest firmware

I've been using this media for months in our various reviews and 9 out of 10 times, the results are excellent at 8x. Sometimes its on par with Verbatim's 2.4x media.. but usually its better.

I have to agree.... it REALLY surprised me how good the quality of the media was right off the bat.

It doesn't recognize the png format. Use jpg, gif or something.

Sorry for OT. 1) For screenshots most suitable file format is PNG. Lesser size than any JPEG and perfect quality. Better than GIF. A lot of reasons. I've resigned using other file formats to store screenshots few years ago. Just waste of space.

PHPBB2 and PNG:

And this one looks interesting (mod):

Might be worth making the addition Ian, many forum users, including myself use .PNG quite heavily

I inserted %20 after the name of the brand of the burner.

For the:
BenQ DW-1640
it goes that way:

Image
http://www.cdrlab.pl/imagestatic/benq%2 ... tim_8_.png

In fact this was done automaticly by IE 5 when I put the url without [img]
in the address barr of Internet Explorer
And then I put back a

For the LG burner it just finds no picture

Notice:
Because for DVD in the format +R
it impossible to read from the burned DVD+R the name of the writer used
alexnoe puts in the line
comment:
the writer used, the firmware version and the writing speed

As you can see on Page 1 of the present thread
or here:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=152852

In think that for DL it is quite important to have the firmware version and the writing speed within the PxScans

Hrm... I actually wouldn't classify even a single one of those to be good burns :o

Fillin the blanks:
BenQ DW1640: BSMB
BenQ DW1650: BCAC
LG GSA-4166B 1.02
LiteON SHW-16H5S: LS0R
NEC ND-4550A: 1.06
Philips DVDR1648P1: P2.2
Plextor PX-750A: 1.01
Plextor PX-755A: 1.00

For LG's screenshots please try changing the filename please:
old = new
d_dl_p_verbatim_8_.png = d_dl_p_verbatim8_.png
This should work.

aren't the NEC and Lite-On burns OK?

The NEC 4550 is ALMOST a decent burn... the LiteON is still pretty bad though.

All the Beta scores are VERY poor in general. A lot of DVD players will not be able to handle such large deviations from the format standard.

I could not find the right name for the second file for the LG burner:

LG GSA-4166B:

is correct

does not work

Mate, sorry for misleading you, I've just browsed LG 4166 results and find out that the writing quality was that bad the px716 cannon red it for scanning (same for MKM-001-00 and RICOHJPN-D00-01). It is just not a DL burner. Latest LGs are just a crap.

Maybe people should discuss the firmware 1.02 you used for the LG 4166B
Is the LG 4167B not better with firmware DL11 or 12 ?
