I was just reading an article about how 46664 is one of the world's most recognized numbers.

Do you recognize the number '46664' and understand it's significance? Be honest.

I know 42 , 4711, 0815 and 666 but not 46664.

A 4-6-6-4 is a Challenger and the Erie had a 2-8-8-8-2 Triplex, but I don't think a 4-6-6-6-4 locomotive existed.

The number 2 is the most recognized number. 0 is sometimes confused with an O. 1 is sometimes confused with an I. So, it's 2. Everyone knows the number 2. Two is a perfect number: man & woman. Proton, electron; positive & negative. Beginning & end. It takes 2 to tango.

I only know it cause of Live 8 last year and how it was prevalent in one of the acts' performances, and even then it didn't totally explain what it was all about.

I'm leaving it vague on purpose. (Live 8 is NOT a hint, it probably won't get you in the right place)

Sounds like more "feel good" reporting... I seriously doubt any large % of people know what it means outside of certain areas.

Isn't this Nelson Mandela's prisoner number?

I'd say so. I did a larger poll with people at my school.

I got:

3 knew it
1 recognized it
9 didn't know

That includes the stats from here. Then again, my friends are all uneducated (in this regard) American teens. One of them got it right on, and I was bloody impressed!
