Our house was built in 1951, and I really didn't want to mess with things too much (nor pay a contractor). The only wired run I did other than for my office was just fishing a cat-5 cable upstairs for the ReplayTV (the hole was already available, but small enough that the wire had to be fished without the cable-end on it, then a new end put on). Everything other than my office is done through secured wireless link.
