840e not being recognised...

Hi,

A while ago I bought an 840e USB dvd drive (which I'm starting to regret). I was having some issues with the lightscribe, so i flashed with the 4166 firmware (v1.2 i think) which solved that problem. Now I have problems with it being recognised by my laptop, i generally get the error messages that it isn't recognised, or that it could perform faster. Any clues why this might be?

Maybe your laptop have only usb 1.1?

it turns out that the usb cable has to be connected before the power cable. all working perfectly now.
