Dell 4600 bios doesn't like benq 1655?

Postby seanc on Fri Jun 02, 2006 3:50 pm

I have a dell 4600 dimension that gives an error on booting when I have a Benq 1655 inside as the slave on the secondary chain. The bios doesn't recognize the dvd writer, and comes up as unknown type. If I press a key to continue, windows works fine and the drive is great.

I've updated the bios and still getting the error. I've tried putting the benq on slave, cable select, and still no success.

Any ideas? thank you. Sean

I did. As soon as I put the old cd writer back in (which is what was there before my change) it's happy and all is fine.
