Can I finalize a data CD without adding any more files?

Nero Burning ROM, Nero Express, NeroVision Express, Recode, InCD, etc..

Can I finalize a data CD without adding any more files?

Is this possible with Nero 5?

Also is there any harm in leaving a data CD unfinalized?

If I choose "No Multisession," is that the same as finalizing?

No Multisession does not equal 'Finalizing' a CD/DVD.

If you do not finalize a CD, it does not affect the ability of devices to read the disc, such as CD-ROMs,DVD-ROMs, DVD Recorders, etc.

Only when you fail to close a session does it affect playback, as CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives would not be able to read the disc. And Nero will always close a session, there is not option to leave a session open in Nero.

To close a CD or DVD without adding data, you must choose 'Continue Multiession'.

If you choose 'Start Multisession' or 'No Multisession' Nero will not allow a burn to begin unless you add data. And any data you had already written to the disc would be inaccesable as well, so 9 times out of 10 you would not wish to do this.

So if my data CDRs were all set up for "no multisession," then I have nothing to worry about, even if they might not have all been finalized - I can just leave them as is, correct?

That depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

The disc will always be readable on any CD or DVD-Rom drive. And only the data you had last written to the disc will be seen when you insert the disc.
(Though you could use our Nero MultiSession Mounter to mount the previous sessions so you can access them from Windows Explorer, among other ways there are to retreived the data.)

There is definately nothing wrong with doing all your writes on a CD in Non-Multisession mode.
