I'm going to watch a little bit until the NASCAR race starts in 40 minutes.

Hope I wake up for the green flag.

It means "Go, old guys Go" (an allusion to the "high" age of the French team).

Yeah, it's justice that the Italians won. Zidane must have had a blackout. :o

It's going to be a noisy night here- with carcades and jubilant Italians in the streets (that's one of the reasons I was rooting for France- there aren't as many French in Frankfurt and it'd be quieter )

(who's been watching entirely too much World Cup instead of preparing important posts as promised to Ian :( )

i disagree.
he did a stupid thing and paid for it but on the whole he's a great football player, and the French team was better than the Italian one (at least during this game, the only one i watched).

Saw the game until the electricity went off 5 minutes before penalties. Stupid Gurgaon and Delhi!!

Zidane must have been extremely provoked to have done something that stupid. Materazzi is rumoured to have called him a "dirty terrorist" and a "sister fu***r". Even in 1998, the Saudi team taunted his non-Arab (Algerian Berber) Muslim origins. He stamped on one of them, got a red card and came back only after the quarter-finals IIRC. In Algeria, there has been internecine strife between the Berbers and Arabs as well, with the Berbers usually at the receiving end.

Wait for further comment from him before judging him.. good he got the Golden Ball.

It that's the case, while I think comments like that are insulting, the best response to those kind of insults is to play well and win the game, not get yourself red-carded because you can't control your temper. Holding the World Cup up to those you beat is a far classier "in-your-face", IMO, and if he had been around for the end of the game, the outcome might have been different.
