problems playing MP3s from CD in Winamp?

Postby SkaarjMaster on Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:57 am

I have these MP3 songs burned on a CD (actually it's now a normal CD with cda files) and I'm trying to play them in Winamp 5.21 using the XP computer in my sig with the Lite-On DVD-ROM and when it gets 1 second away from the end of the first song the music stops as it caches the second song and the second song starts playing a few seconds later. WTF is up with this? :x

I just put it in my Asus DVD-ROM with no problems. Could the Lite-On be starting to ever-so-slightly fail or is that just the way it is?

Tried a TRT on both the drives? How about a normal music system?

:o All right, I'm lost. What's a TRT and what do you mean by normal music system?

It's doing it again. :x

OK, I know what you're talking about now. It's transfer rate tests!
I just ran Nero CD-DVD Speed on both drives and the Lite-On shows higher speeds, lower seek times and higher burst rate by quite a bit. Although, the CPU usages are kinda strange:

Asus DVD-E616P3 (1.07 firmware)
1X - 3%
2X - 6%
4X - 15%
8X - 25%

Lite-On DVD SOHD-16P9S (FS09 firmware)
1X - 0%
2X - 7%
4X - 3%
8X - 61% (?)

Does this mean anything to anybody? The only thing I know is if I'm playing a CD, I'll play it in the Asus drive instead of the Lite-On for now.
