hi all i have a problem i installed win xp it detects the drive but dont read dvd or cds so i changed from dma to pio in primary channel and he started to work but in nero the buffer jumps from 100% to 5% and takes 37 minutes to burn a 4.7 dvd.


i have a 80 ide cable and dvd is master



any ideas??

What kind of motherboard is it? Does it use an nvidia chipset? Are you using the nvidia IDE drivers?

Have you tried another IDE cable?

hi the board is a asus a8v-e se ive tried with another ide cable and stills the same

Hmm.. that's a VIA motherboard. Did you install VIA's IDE drivers?

yes the cd drivers that come with the board cd...

tell me something , should work in dma mode?

Yeah, it should work in DMA mode. My gut suspicion is that its the VIA drivers. Their IDE drivers are notorious for causing problems with optical drives. I'd look in the Device Manager and see if you're using the Microsoft or VIA IDE drivers.

Hva eu tried the windows-standard-ide-drivers? Could help

Yeah, it looks like you're missing a pin. Is it bent in there?

well grrrrrrrrrr so many hours trying to solve this , im going to that store and i think they eill suffer with my revenge lol
