How to burn audio files to play on a standalone DVD player?

Postby Pilgrim on Thu Mar 29, 2007 3:23 pm

I don't know if this is the right forum or not.... couldn't decide from the choices available, hehe.

Well, here's the situation. A friend copied 10 CD's of music to his HDD and then burned them to DVD and they will not play in his standalone player. The specifics are below.

First attempt using the following method:

1) Used "Real Player" to copy the files on the CD's to his HDD
2) Format used was MP3 192 KB
3) Opened Nero and used: "Create MP3 DVD" to burn to DVD
4) He also created a ".nrg" file for later use on his HDD.

Second attempt using the following method:

1) Used "Real Player to copy the files on the CD's to his HDD
2) Format used was MP3 192 KB
3) Opened Windows Media Player 11 and used "Burn" - to HDD in .wma format
4) Opened Nero and used: "Create Data DVD" to burn the .wma files to disc.

Okay... let me admit that I know virtually NOTHING about burning audio/video discs and I'm simply inquiring for my friend who asked me to copy the discs he has so that they will play on his standalone player.

Can this be done with the discs he gave to me or if not from the files he saved to his HDD? Now.... PLEASE [-o< realize I don't know all the "jargon", etc., and I will need detailed step-by-step destructions if I am going to be able to do whatever it might take to do accomplish this.

THANKS!!

Will his standalone player play mp3 or wma files off of a DVD?

It looks like it only recognizes MP3 files on CD-R/RW media and not DVD's. I'd try burning an MP3 CD and see if that works.

I've never tried the "Create MP3 CD/DVD" option. Normally I just create a data disc and toss a bunch of MP3's on it. That seems to work with my standalone player.

Copy that.
I just checked my recent model Philips player and it will only do MP3 and WMA on CD media.

I have a $28 JVC (cannot remember model) that says it only plays MP3's from CD, but it will play from DVDs too. I takes a LLLOOONNNGGGG time to load when first inserted though.

Yeah, my Lite-On DVD recorder can play them from DVD's too... as well as pictures and movie files. :D
