Sales details for up to the week ending April 1st

Postby dolphinius_rex on Sat Apr 07, 2007 4:06 am

I'm trying to make it a habit of posting these as they become available. My thanks go out to Merlins of HighdefDigest, who's work I am constantly stealing and reposting because he does such a darn good job of it!

The latest Nielsen VideoScan numbers from Home Media Magazine as usually:

SI, Blu-ray:HD-DVD
100:77,88

YTD, Blu-ray:HD-DVD
100:43,16

This gives us an estimated weekly sales ratio of 100:52.

You gotta wonder how HD DVD is going to recover. They had their best week of sales in ages and the gap between HD DVD and Blu-ray still grew.

I know, it seems like the HD DVD camp is sitting by idle, letting themselves get trampled. I can't believe we haven't seen ANY type of aggressive response from them.

That week was deffinately better for releases for HD DVD then Blu-Ray also.... the thing that HD DVD is missing is any kind of on going sales strength. Blu-Ray continues to sell regularily because there are tons and TONS of people with PS3s who are not buying a lot of movies, but are continually buying movies slowly, keeping a regular sales volume possible. Then there are crazy Blu-Ray early adopters who buy a lot of movies every week.

But the war is still not over. Both sides have a few more tricks yet to be played. And Christmas this year is going to be crucial.

Lot's of fun :D
