What are you using to clean your dvd drives;when they need cleaning?

Unless you live in harsh condidtions, you should not have to clean an optical drive for a long, long time. In the case of a computer drive, it should be obsolete before it needs cleaned. If you must, I would open it up and use something like you would use for a camera lens. I would not buy one of those discs with the felt attached to it. Seems like it could do some damage real quick!

on the geeksquad with xbox360s, xbox 1s, dvd players

i completely take the drive out and pull it apart and use isopropynal alcohol on a very fine q-tip then compressed air or air compressor to get the dust everywhere else

don't use alcohol on the rubber ring that holds and spins the discs, dries it out very fast

use special rubber cleaner that doesn't dry it out
