Nero 8: Burning disc with long filenames?

Postby Pilaar39 on Fri Jul 11, 2008 4:54 pm

eCould someone please tell me if/how to burn a data DVD with files that have long filenames?

I am using Nero 8, and I find there is very little in the way of options to set or change.. for example, in Nero 7, I could specify verify write with a readback - can't seem to find this option in Nero 8. in fact, can't find any options in Nero 8

But more importantly, I want to know how to burn a disc without having all my filenames truncated at 64 characters.

Thanks,
pl

The Joliet file system only supports file names of 64 characters or less. Do you need them longer than that?

I found the problem..

In the past, I just launched SmartStart, and sekected Burn a Data CD/DVD. For some reason, it brought up the right program to do the job. Now it doesn't.

If I launch Nero Express, I can burn with long filenames, set options, etc.

and yes, to answer your question, I do need longer than 64 characters. I am archiving music from my HD to DVD, and with names like:
A Doo-Wop Treasure Chest Vol 5 - 04 - Herman Griffin & The Mello-Dees - Hurry Up And Marry Me.mp3
that are longer than 64, I do need the ability to write long file names.

I glad to hear that you figured it out. I was also going to suggest using UDF, but it sounds like you found an option that works.
