There is no freeware "suite" like Nero or Roxio, if that is what you mean... you'll have to do piece mail to get the same (and arguably better) from free solutions. Audacity is for wav editing/cutting/de-clicking... I used it with some old LP's that were out of print to make digital copies. I also use it to merge sound tracks together and put audio behind a photo show (I do that with Photodex ProShow Gold). For day to day CD/DVD burning I use ImgBurn; you might be more comfortable with CDBurnerXP. Ripping audio CD's works great with EAC.

Nero and Adaptec Easy CD-Creator (that eventually became Roxio) started out as strictly a CD-R burning product... they bloated into suites full of things I never used, though I did try and use Nero Vision with mixed results. I eventually moved on to VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

I don't really understand what your goal is; it's never been clear to me... I might suggest to use the hell out of google and yahoo to find answers or other forums that might fit your specific needs.

What do you mean by "export something to burn a CD"? Extract (DAE)? Are you doing a 1:1 copy? Making a compilation audio CD? Not understanding.

what i mean is with audacity you have to export the file to the desktop to be able to burn it to a cd this is where i seem to be having problems.with nero
it has its own burner so there was nothing to export....

Nero may have did all of that for you, but clearly, with all the problems you have had, it has not done it well. It is probably in your best interest to get a better understanding of Audacity as a wave editor and other burning engines and learn how to use the Windows file system a little more. The alternative to that would be to work with Nero support to get them to assist you.

You're not telling me anything I don't already know... Nero is like any other corporate greed driven company today... once they have your money, they don't give a damn about you anymore... They weren't always like that, but they are now. I won't buy their products again.

You may want to check out the Audacity Wiki and forum... Might get some tips there.
