Never owned a 1655... Still own a 1620 and 1640, though they are in my basement doing absolutely nothing. The last disc I burned was Memtest86+ 4.20... Should probably get what I can out of my old Plextors and BenQ drives....

For Standard Shipping.. yes. I think you can do flat rate Priority for $11. Then again, the box needs to fit.

Sold for $30. How much did this drive originally go for?

Don't know about the 1655, but in August 2005 I paid $42 plus $4 shipping for the Benq OEM 1640. And in July 2006 paid $49.99 plus shipping for another Benq OEM 1640.

According to my old review, the retail version sold for $50.

The very last 1655 I bought was in a connect computers box at Comp USA a while before they folded. I think I paid 63 bucks for it but I knew it was a full retail drive repacked in those boxes so I bought it anyway. Still have a couple 1620, a 1640 and a couple 1655 drives.
Both the 1655's now have issues opening the trays but work once they do, one of the 1620 drives has fully died, the other originally a 1600, still works and so does the 1640.
Some of the last DVD burners that I got excited about and kept getting new features and updates all the time. The learn as it burned feature was cool and I wasted a lot of blanks going for the next perfect burn...
