Something like this would probably work fine.

Keep in mind that USB 2.0 can't handle BD read/write speeds higher than 8x. If you need this, look into eSATA, FireWire 800 or USB 3.0.

You'd probably have a better chance of finding a laptop with FireWire than eSATA.

Just re-checked, only USB 2, if USB can only handle read/write up to 8X, how long would that to rip a Blu Ray disc ?

Most, if it not all, Blu-ray drives have a maximum read speed of 8x so it should not have any effect on the time to rip a disc.

OK, good, my old PC, a 3.2 Intel Prescott, took about 8 hours to rip a BD once, hoping for better with a i5 6GB RAM, laptop.

If you are reading from an ODD don't expect much of an improvement. You're going to rip at the rate of the drive. If you take that data and rip to a Matroska or something, then you will see a huge benefit. I'm impressed with my i7-2600K and my Sandy Bridge based MacBook in that regard.

So ripping to a Matroska or similar, will shorten the ripping time of a BD disc considerably ?
Compared to normal Blu ray or DVD files ?

Nope. Just smaller file sizes.

Hmmmm....
Now I'm just working with a 640GB HDD on laptop, that'll help, I'll have to sort out an enclosure, Vantec are hard to come by in UK, looks like an overnight session with a deskfan, to rip a BD.
