Difference? Lite-on iHBS112 , LiteOn iHBS212?

Postby Scour on Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:49 pm

The only difference I see is, the 212 have Lightscribe

Any further known?

BD-quality-scan should work with both?

Yep, only real difference is LightScribe. I think the iHBS112 is only available as an OEM too but I could be wrong. Lite-On also has the iHBS312 now which seems to be the same as the iHBS112. Go figure...

Thanks :)

Any ideas which tools are able to make quality scans with BD? The only one I saw was Opti drive control

Yeah, Opti Drive Control will do it. I'm not sure how accurate it is though.

Yep, I read somewhere about it.

But I dunno which other drives and software can do scans. Maybe only those with MTK-chipset. But not sure whether someone use that.

If you buy a Plextor, you can do it with Plexutilities.. but that's probably similar to what you're going to see with a Lite-On and ODC.

Looks to me like Liteon will stop manufacturing BD-drives.

I had write to their support and they replied that The production of this drive has stopped.

I asked about a new BD-writer: Currently, we have no plan for new BD Writer model.

I can't say that I'm surprised. The company had plans to introduce 16x writers a couple of years ago and nothing ever happened. Instead they've been selling the same model for 2+ years. This by itself is odd since the company used to come out with a new model every 3-6 months.

I guess they're making too much money in the SSD market.

In USA?

Here in Germany Liteon-SSDs very hard to find, the PLextor-labeled (should be the same or very similar) are easy to find. But when I look at my most used online-shop the sales figures are very low

AFAIK Liteon is the No. 2 manufacturer of PSU, I think it´s also better to make many than with optical drives

PLDS sells a lot of SSDs to the OEM market. Not to mention, they make drives for a number of more well known companies. Plextor is probably just a fraction of their business.

But yeah.. Lite-On manufacturers all sorts of stuff.
