Fast, reliable and CD+G capable

Postby pierow on Thu Jan 01, 1970 4:36 am

Been looking all over for a reliable CDR that is capable of burning CD+G (karaoke discs) - and no, not all CDRs are capable of reproducing CD+G discs. :D Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

pierow,

Do you want to duplicate CD+G disc? OR, do you want to create CD+G compilations?

Plexot CD-RW drives can handle both task.

However, if you simply want to duplicate a CD+G disc (save yourself the cash), most CD-RW recorders (provided they support RAW mode copying) will handle the job with the appropriate software (CloneCD or DiscJuggler).

I'm more interested in burning my own compilations than just copying the discs. I want to better organize my collection. So you think that I can just use a fast Plextor and get the job done?

There might be a less expensive way but I know the following will work:

1) A Plextor CD-ROM, 2) a Plextor burner and 3) DiscJuggler or CDRWIN.

I am curious as to the reply that the Liteon 48X will do CD+G's, As far as the information I have, the only ones currentlly made that do them is the Plextors.
Now, I am not saying you are wrong, but could you elaborate on the Liteon 48X ? Thanks

Hoxlund,

I think you are missing the point.

If you look at the Nero screen shots of most the recorders (TDK 48x, LG 40x, etc.) that have been reviewed here you'll find that a great majority, supposedly, will burn CD+G. This is not true.

I personally believe Nero simply checks to see if the drive supports RAW-DAO 96; provided it does, the screen shot will place a checkmark next to the CD+G option.

This works great if you simply want to make a backup copy of a CD+G disc. However, to create a compilation you must use discjuggler or CDRWIN along with an optical drive that supports CD+G through hardware. Both software rely on the optical drive’s ability to read/exact and burn CD+G contents at the hardware level without software assistance. This is the differences.

Mind you, discjuggler, as with CloneCD, will handle CD+G duplications using the RAW-DAO 96 copying method and software assisted measures.

In the past only Plextor CD-ROMs and burners, Yamaha burners, and limited Sony CD-ROMs (these Sony CD-ROMs were designed primarily for the MAC through OEM relations) supported CD+G at the hardware level.

From the looks of you guys posts, I didn't know that there was optical drive technology in 1969 let alone compact disks<LOL>
I have an HP 9300i cd-rw that I use to read and burn karaoke cd-gs. I use Dart Cdrecorder 4.1 basic. Comes bundled with Dart Karaoke Author CD+G software. Great for making 1:1 copies and compilations.

Cheers

Yes, this is correct. And he will continue to miss the point no matter how many rational explanations or reasons you give him as long as he can (with no direct experience of his assertion) state that the Nero Info Tool is accurate with regard to disclosing CD+G compilation creation capability (and not simply copying CD+G).

You know what you are talking about, and are wasting your time trying to convince him. :)

I don't think that the number of posts that a person has made is an appropriate criterion to use in assessing depth of knowledge.

A far more substantial indicator of accumulated knowledge would be actual and visible physical evidence. Such as the number of burners one has in one's bedroom.

you make me laugh.
yes, hoxlund, you outrank Inertia by 2 to 1 in number of posts.
however, judging from the contents of posts, Inertia outranks you by 1000 to 1 if not more: in the quality of his posts, their usefulness to the readers, informativeness, helpfulness in fixing problems, etc. and in "knowing tons about cd burning".

incidentally, just from tonight's browsing i learned at least 2 new things form Inertia's posts...and nothing from yours. how surprising.

if you think i'm wrong, or it is just my personal opinion, i dare you to put up a poll in the Beer Garden and see what other regular members of CDRLabs think of your posts vs. Inertia's.

i've restrained myself many times from responding to you, but really...

the ONLY useful info i've garnered from your 600+ posts is:
Lite-On Rulez
Plextor Sucks
i can get employee discount and buy stuff cheap

you keep shoving lite-on down everybody's thoat...OK yeah it's a good drive for you, being the mass software copier/pirater you are, but it does have its disadvantages (surprise surprise) and other drives have merit too (surpirse again!). but oh no, huxlund won't have it and has to get into a pissing match with everyone who suggests otherwise.
when someone comes along and asks "what drive to buy" you recommend Lite-On, fine, you're entitled to your opinion, and many agree with you on this point, but no not good enough you have to trash other drive models...the only good drive in the Universe is Lite-On...

like i said above, your knowledge about CD stuff isn't all that great like you think it is. everyone makes mistakes that's OK but the trick is to learn from them, huh? you post wrong information and when someone tries to correct you (if not for your benefit, then for the benefit of others reading the thread) you get into an argument...

yeah you hope Plextor goes out of business: boy you have nerve. Plextor is an industry leader. go read the forum to see how people felt when Yamaha dropped out of the business. or ask how they'll feel if Plextor does too. if Plextor do drop out of the optical drive business it will be a sad day for all of us (except you of course).
(and i'm not even going to bother answering you on this issue).

your manner is rude obnoxious, and irritating.
what's with the "STFU" you threw at Scour?

you want to pirate/steal/copy software, well do what you want, but why flaunt it so brazenly here in the forums? what for? what do you get out of doing this?
and ridiculing people for actually paying for the software they use?

why don't you just stop or go away.

and again, if you think it's just me, why don't you put up another 10 polls to see what others think on any of the points i've made.

You obviously put a lot of thought and effort into that post, dodecahedron. Calling out bad behavior won't make you popular, but I think it is important to do in egregious cases such as this lest we, by our silence, tacitly endorse such behavior and allow the forum to degrade to its level. Sometimes one has to step forward and say, "That isn't right, that isn't acceptable, and we won't tolerate it." Let me publicly offer my support to you and your views.

Anyone who reads these forums regularly will have no problem in judging the relative value of Inertia's advice in comparison to hoxlund's. For those who don't, I think the fact that hoxlund believes that post count somehow equates to knowledge speaks for itself as to the usefulness of hoxlund’s opinions and advice.

Nero

Postby pcelf on Thu Apr 17, 2003 5:01 am

What I thought was bizarre, was the fact that Nero detected that my HP wasn't cd-g capable and the Liteon as capable, when, they prolly both are just depends on the software you're using.

Yes, it would have been so much more intelligent, well reasoned and insightful had he simply said "STFU hoxlund."

hoxlulnd wrote:well at least your posts fall on deaf ears

The only deaf ears here are yours, hoxlund, and it is quite a sad commentary on you if you feel that a closed, ignorant mind is something of which to be proud.

hoxlulnd wrote:this forum is falling and slipping down the drain

Only when people post vulgarities such as "STFU" and drivel such as (I paraphrase here) "I'm smarter than you because I can pound on the 'submit' button."

Moderators: Exactly how much leash does hoxlund get? He has shown a repeated pattern of flame baiting, personal attacks, advocating and posting warez and other similar prohibited behavior for a very long time now.
