Loader drawer on Lite-On 48125W seems to be dragging

Loader drawer on Lite-On 48125W seems to be dragging

Postby cosmichippo on Sun Nov 17, 2002 4:04 pm

Hi,

I recently installed a Cendyne burner in my system based on the LO 48125W drive. When I first installed it I noticed that the drawer seemed slower to open than that of the Pioneer DRV-103 in the same system but thought little about since. I have used the Cendyne exclusively for burning since and gotten used to it I guess.

Yesterday I am testing and tweaking the Pioneer the noticed the difference again. Not that I care that it takes a bit more time to get a disc in or out of the CDRW drive, it really doesn't matter to me, what is really bothering me is the fact that the drawer in the Cendyne/Lite-On seems to be dragging the further it comes out. It seems to start out with a torquey push but then seems to get bogged dow as if dragging against something.

It works fine otherwise and CDSpeed reports the eject and load times are fine but I am still a little concerned that there might be something stressing the loader motor.

Has anyone had similar experieinces or is this common/normal with Lite-Ons?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Please disregard everything that comes out of LOS' mouth. He purchased a defective Lite-On a while ago so, consequently, "all Lite-Ons are defective."

What a load of crap.

No. Never.

It has worked fine since install. I am just "aware" of this seeming dragging and concerned that it might be wearing the motor out.

Again, please disregard whatever happens to fall out of LOS' mouth. He is an idiot. Lite-On is one of the best, if not THE best.

Can't CDRLabs delete such account names? Simply vulgar, annoying and offensive.

Do not worry about it. That series of LiteOn drives is well known for its "two-speed" eject characterstic. It is normal behavior, and has not been known to cause any long term problems. Some poor LiteOn engineer probably slaved late into the night designing in that "soft-eject" feature. I hear that they went back to a standard "one-speed" eject in the 52x models.

I wish my TDK 48x had the "one-speed" eject instead of the current "two-speed eject" on my drive. :(

I agree that it is aesthetically displeasing, but that is the extent of any problem with it.

Mike, you did nothing wrong and have nothing to apologize for. I am sorry that you got caught up in this storm just by asking a simple question, and aplogize on behalf of the good citizens of CDRLabs to you. CDRLabs is usually a very civil place with courteous people making an honest effort to solve problems, share information, and have a little fun.

It's not your fault Mike. We just have a immature member in these message boards that has been causing problems for everyone. He is the one single reason that CDRLabs is going down hill in terms of quality.
I just hope your future experiences and messages on these forums don't get out of hand and off subject like this.
