Lite-On LTR-48246S reviews and best DVD reader?

Postby mbourd25 on Wed Nov 27, 2002 12:22 am

Hi folks, I have 2 simple questions, 1. what are the reviews on this Lite-On CD-Writer drive and 2. which brand is a really good DVD reader drive that handles all the DVD formats today?

Thanks.

Hey, CDRlabs doesn't have a review of the drive you mentioned. You may be able to find it on the web. As per its performance, I would guess that in CD-R performance it would be quite similar to the performance of the 48125W which is reviewed at CDRlabs http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=131
As per the RW performance, I would guess it would perform similar to the CenDyne 52x24x52x which is reviewed http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=160
As the CenDyne is a rebadged LiteOn and also has 24x RW, you can expect similar results.
As per the DVD rom's, I would say LiteOn, Pioneer, LG either one of these would be great and I would guess compatible with all the different formats. I'll let someone else answer that question, I have a Pioneer and it performs OK, i have been having problems with it lately but that's a whole different story (that doesn't mean i am suggesting not to buy a Pioneer, they are one of the best in DVD Roms).

Just read the review on the TDK 48x drive because I believe its based on Lite-On's LTR-48246S CD-RW drive.
