cdrom speed question

How fast is too fast?

cdrom speed question

is the faster a cd rom spins the better it reads cd's??... is the faster the cdrom the better it reads scatched cd's?
(please tell me this isn't a dumb question)

No, the faster it spins the faster it can transfer data. However, the data is harder to read at faster speeds, so actually the faster a drive spins the harder it is for that drive to read scratched/dirty/defective CD's. When drives begin having trouble reading a CD, they slow down to, in essence, "take a better look."

so in your opinion whats a good speed for a cd burner??

In my opinion your Yamaha F-1 is an excellent drive that burns both quickly and with quality. It is kind of expensive, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others contemplating a purchase, but since you already own it, enjoy it with confidence that it is great drive.

how is it??... have you ever had a coaster with it?. a failed burn session.. i wanna get one but i wanted to wait for a faster one.. and if it doesn't come out before christmas im just gonna settle for the same yamha u got

Read the reviews if you want to know how the drive is. And if you want to ask someone how their drive is, please send a private message to them instead of posting a question toward a certain member in the forum.

This is going to be the last time we tell you cdrfreak2003, Yamaha WILL NOT be coming out with anything new for the rest of this year.
