Noise Level On 52X Drives

Do the 52x CD Burners make loud noises when burning CD's? Thanks, Craig.

They make kind of a whirl noise. Definately more than a 48X drive, but you can lower the speed of the drive through Nero Drive Speed if you find it too anoying. Personally, I can barely hear it over the noise of my PC's fans.

depends on the drive. Neither the Lite On nor the Asus 52x appear louder than the Plextor 48x. They ain't quiet, but it isn't too bad.

Personally, I thought the ASUS was pretty loud. Louder than the Lite-On 52x at least.

Are 52x Lite-On drives loud?

It's loud, but I don't have anything else fast enough to compare it to.

At least it's not a high pitched whine, but I think it's bearable given the performance.

Think of it this way, the faster, the louder.
And the faster, the less time you'll have to spend to listen to it!

I just upgraded to a LTR-52246S burner and I find it much quieter than my old LTR-24102B was. But then again, my 8000RPM HSF could be distracting me somewhat
