I Think I Figured Out The Drive I Want

Postby craiger on Thu Dec 05, 2002 6:47 pm

Samsung's SM-348B. Their new 48x24x48x CD-RW/16X DVD-ROM combo drive. I can't wait for Samsung's new combo to be out in the U.S. I guess Samsung's new combo won't be out until next year. I saw it on some Koren Computer web sites for 130,000, I think they called it won? What is that equivalent to in U.S. dollars?

Sorry. I also saw that drive comes with Roxio's ED CD Creator. That's the basic version right? Is that good enough? I think it will also come with PowerDVD XP right?

Yes, that 8mb buffer is cool. I'll bet that drive fly's when burning CD's and playing DVD's.

I didn't know 8mb buffer could make a drive fly...lol..jk.
Well, its a good choice and as you mentioned, has flying speeds. How much would this drive sell for? Generally combo drives are pretty expensie (well they do read DVDs so...).

For those that care, the drive has a MSRP of $129. Of course, it will probably be cheaper when it hits the stores.

Ian, have you heard yet when it will hit the stores? Will it be this month? Or not until January or February?

The Best Buy "blowout rebate" ($44) on Samsung's 48-16-48 suggests it will arrive very soon.
