crx210e1 overburning failure

Postby vorlon on Fri Dec 13, 2002 7:03 am

Hi there.
Perhaps someone can help me here.
Just got a crx210e1 oem drive and a nero 5599 oem version.

Whenever I try overburning a 90min 32x cd-r @ 32x (85 min of data) the drive freezes while writing the lead in but spins all the time and you can't eject the cdr anymore.

Writing and overburning at the same disc type @16x
without any problem.

Ah yeah, it gets unusually noisy while spinning up for lead-in whenever I try overburning with nero.
By the sound I would guess, the drive attempts to start write at to high a speed.
Any nero problem??
Could "updating" to a serial number base version (not oem) do any good?

Is the cdr not recognised properly?

Thx a lot

Spazmogen has a nice overburning guide:

http://www3.sympatico.ca/brad.ormsby/

One thing he recommends is going slow for best results - I think he prefers 8x maximum. So if your overburn works fine at 16x but not 32x, the solution may be as simple as "don't overburn at 32x".

Those larger capacity discs are outside of the original CD specification, and with their narrower tracks are harder to read and write, particularly at higher speeds.

And of course, you should consider the optical drives which might read the discs which you've overburnt.
Unfortunately, in my experience, even trying to fit a could of extra minutes on a S/VCD in my CyberHome (similar to Apex) DVD player makes it choke... shame, but there you go!
