Easy Cd Creator 5.0 Platinum does not recoginize LTR 48125w

Postby seeplusplus on Wed Dec 11, 2002 11:46 am

I have a lite on LTR 48125w burner. I have installed Easy cd creator 5.0 platium. I upgraded it to 5.3.2 using the update from Roxio site. But when I tried to record, I get the message "there is no cdr". I tried to use driveup 5.3.2a from the roxio site but when I click on the application I get the message "No roxio installation found". My registry contains the key "platinum" in installation.

Any help appreciated.....

Do you have a legally licensed copy of the full retail version? I am wondering if you have an OEM version that is locked to the drive with which it came.

The Platinum version is not bundled with drives and the bundled Basic version is not tied to specific recorders like Nero. The Roxio supported recorders database shows the 48125W first supported in version 5.3.1.154 so you do not need the 5.3.2a update. Try running the engforce utility that forces the 5.3.2 update to complete:

Interesting. Perhaps I should keep that in mind the next time I make a purchase. I don't know whether or not you have seen my posts in the Ahead forum, but Nero's OEM drive-locking mechanism is causing me problems even though I have a legally licensed copy for each drive I want to use it with.

I saw your posts. It is too bad that Ahead chose that route. Unless it has been specifically modified by the OEM (don't believe any have done this since version 4), Roxio Basic supports any recorder on the supported recorders list.

Thanks to Jmbrown12

Now,the cdwriter is being detected by Roxio. but when I click on start to burn, the tray opens and this message is displayed

"This is a cdrw. Insert a cdr that is empty"

I have tried different cd brands  .

What other burning software do you have installed?

Do you have any virual CD-ROM drive programs like Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, Clone CD Virtual Drive, etc.? These programs can cause problems with disc recognition because they can hide the ATIP.
