In House Review - B's Recorder GOLD5

Postby Ian on Fri Dec 27, 2002 1:08 pm

Derek has made the week complete by taking a quick look at B's Recorder GOLD5 from B.H.A Corporation. Can B.H.A's new software suite compete in a market dominated by Easy CD Creator and Nero Burning Rom? Check out the review to find out.

I've had some encounters with B's Recorder Gold before. Once with an older version when installing a Sony CRX175A1 drive. B's wouldn't work with the drive :o Then I tried B's 5 on both my TDK 241040B and my Memorex 48MAXX and it worked with neither. I agree with Derek in that they do not update their software as often as they should. The Shellgate looks like a neat feature though.

Hey, it supports more writers than Easy CD Creator.

According to this list, it should support your TDK drive and the Memorex:

Support for the Memorex was added with version 5.06.

Darn, these lists that burner software sites have are always interesting. I see a Sony CRX205E1 on there! I want this firmware!!!

There is a 24x TDK drive on there, but my model; the Lite-ON LTR-24102B based 241040B is not on the supported list

Maybe I'll try a newer version of B's with my Memorex

Of the 3 drives I tried it on, it only worked on two. No go with an old Sony CRX100E. It worked with my Toshiba 1102 and 1202 combo drives.
